We're able to keep this statement brief for you because we (Aurita - the developer and publisher) do not collect any personal and identifiable information through the Kids Story Builder Android app, iOS app, or Windows app and have no desire to do so. Having young kids ourselves, we know they can quickly take photos of things they shouldn't have, and this content must stay private. Any information you enter into the app stays on the device unless you explicitly export it, i.e. there's no connection to any of our servers. Data stored within the app includes app settings and your saved stories. Your stories may be backed up or shared, however actions from outside the app (i.e. another app) are required to complete the transfer of a story off your device. Any backups of app data performed at the operating system level are naturally beyond our control. Please refer to the relevant platform below for further details, including crash reporting and analytics.
From the perspective of your privacy, we feel our use of Google's Firebase service for both analytics and crash reporting is the most noteworthy part. Our use of this service is very limited in scope, and in complying with Google's terms and conditions, we do not pass on any personally identifiable information. See "How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps" for more information. NOTE: as of May 2020, the latest version of the app no longer includes this analytics and crash reporting service, however it may be restored in a future release.
From the perspective of your privacy, we feel our use of Microsoft's Visual Studio App Center service for crash reporting is the most noteworthy part - given it is a third-party logging tool. We use this service only to improve the quality of the app. Again, we do not send or collect any personally identifiable information via this service. Please refer to the Microsoft Privacy Statement for more details on what Microsoft may collect as a result of us using their services.
Finally, when taking a photo within the app, a copy will be placed in your device's photo gallery if permission is granted to the app when taking the first photo. Because your device could be configured to automatically transfer new photos to the cloud, this may present a privacy risk if not properly managed and secured.
